Hi lovely readers,

This time, I would like to share my experience about getting verpflichtungserklärung for applying for a national visa. So, after I got the marriage registration certificate or in German is bescheinigung über die anmeldung der eheschließung, I used this letter to apply a national visa to get married. By the way I got bescheinigung über die anmeldung der eheschließung 2 times, the first addressed to me then the second addressed to my partner.

bescheinigung über die anmeldung der eheschließung for me
    My partner and I have been looking for information about the declaration of commitment for the visa during the court proceed. We are looking for information from various sources because I had previously applied for a visit visa with my partner as my guarantor, but unfortunately my visa was denied. I will post the experience with the rejected visa later. So we were looking for information from various sources carefully and diligently.
      After my partner received the marriage certificate, he immediately made an appointment to the immigration office in the city where he lived. And this time it was his father who was the guarantor. Why was his father become my guarantor? Because as far as I know, there are 2 types of declarations of commitment, namely for short-term and long-term visas. For my previous visit visa, the Declaration of Commitment was used for short term visa. And for the purpose of marriage visa, the letter of commitment is used for long term visa. In my case, my partner must have a net income of at least 2,590 euros per month and have worked for at least six months before applying to the immigration, while the reality is that my partner is still in school and his work does not provide that point. The solution we finally chose is to get another person to act as guarantor, and my partner asks his father for help.
    In this case, the creditworthiness, his father has one obligation, his mother, and based on the immigration official website, his income supposed to be at least 3,590 euros per month. Every person who wants to be a guarantor has different requirements. For the calculation area as below:
To visit a language school/course
    Without any maintenance obligations ->  2,410 Euro/month
    Maintenance obligation for 1 person -> 3,340 Euro/month
    Maintenance obligation for 2 person -> 3,906 Euro/month
- To study/for a vocational training (Ausbildung)
    Without any maintenance obligations -> 2,450 Euro/month
    Maintenance obligation for 1 person -> 3,400 Euro/month
    Maintenance obligation for 2 person -> 3,935 Euro/month
- For a job search/a wedding
    Without any maintenance obligations -> 2,590 Euro/month
    Maintenance obligation for 1 person -> 3,590 Euro/month
    Maintenance obligation for 2 person -> 4,029 Euro/month

  We both did not expect much anyway because being a guarantor is not easy, the responsibility is quite hard especially with people you have never met directly before. But my father's partner immediately agreed without any frills. I'm so grateful. Here are the documents needed to submit verpflichtungserklärung for a long-term visa:
- German ID-card (Personalausweis)/passport of the guarantor
- Passport copy of the person applying for a national visa
- Information about marital status and existing maintenance obligations
   to spouses, life partners, or minor children
- Completed form "Zusatzerklärung zur verpflichtungserklärung"
- Proof of creditworthiness
  for example the last 6 months proof of net income or employment contract
- Proof of the main residence where we apply for the verpflichtungserklärung
  Certificate of registration at the main residence or lease and written confirmation of occupancy from the landlord
- Additional documents
  In individual cases further documents may be required

    The fee of a declaration of commitment is 29 euros. For the procedure, we sent all the requirement documents written on the immigration website through email to make an appointment and we need to write the purpose of the declaration of commitment which is for a marriage visa and write the guarantor's employment status on the subject. You can also send the documents by post, indicating the address of the immigration office near your home. After that, the officer of the immigration will check the completeness of the documents and then offer an appointment for the interview. At that time, we postponed the appointment because my partner's father had to go to the hospital at the first appointment.
At the second appointment in early March, my partner and his father came to the immigration office on time at the appointed time. They brought all the necessary documents. For the duration of the interview it went quite fast said my partner. It's about 15 minutes his father came out with commitment letter. My partner didn't get in because only the concerned person was let in because of the pandemic situation. I don't know what was asked in the interview either. Maybe I will ask later when I meet my father-in-law, and update here hehe ;)

This is my experience with the declaration of commitment. Sorry if I can't show the documents well, please understand that I'm still learning for blogging thingy.
